Who is responsible?
The Speak To Me campaign, founded by Harry Georgiou, is responsible for personal information described in this notice. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, email info@speaktome02.com.
Information we use and why
- Contact enquiries: your name, email address and message. We use these details to respond and keep a record of the conversation. The form is handled by FormSubmit and delivered to our email inbox. Our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact the campaign.
- Newsletter: your email address and a record of your opt-in, including when you signed up and the wording shown at the time. We use this to send Speak To Me news and campaign updates. We store signup records in the website database and use Resend to manage delivery. Our basis is your consent. Every newsletter includes an unsubscribe option.
- Story comments: the name you enter, your comment, the story it relates to and a pseudonymous browser identifier. Names and comments appear publicly on the story page. We use these details to host the discussion and moderate it. Our basis is our legitimate interest in running and protecting this feature.
- Story hearts: a pseudonymous browser identifier and the story you reacted to, used to remember and count reactions. Our basis is our legitimate interest in providing this feature and preventing duplicate reactions.
- Accessibility settings: the display preferences you choose, such as text size or contrast, saved in your browser so they can be restored on your device.
- Technical service information: our hosting and database providers may process connection information, such as IP address and browser requests, to deliver, secure and troubleshoot the website.
The inclusion quiz
The inclusion quiz is embedded from quiz.sprsktome.org, a separate service. It asks for views and may ask optional demographic and disability-related questions or invite free-text answers. Some answers may reveal sensitive information, such as health, disability or ethnicity. We use responses to understand people’s experiences and inform our inclusion work; findings may be reported in aggregate. Answers are handled by the quiz service, separately from the newsletter and contact-form records described above. Please avoid putting names or contact details into free-text answers. Who helps process information?
We use service providers to host the website and its database, receive contact form submissions (FormSubmit), and manage newsletter contacts and email delivery (Resend). They process information to provide those services. Embedded video and the quiz are loaded from their own services; those providers may receive technical information when your browser loads their content. Their own privacy information applies to their services.
How long we keep information
We keep contact enquiries while we handle them and for as long afterwards as needed for follow-up, accountability or legal claims. Newsletter details are kept while you remain subscribed; unsubscribe or contact us to stop future messages and request deletion. Public comments and story-reaction records remain until they are removed or no longer needed for moderation and site operation. Accessibility preferences stay in your browser until you clear its storage. Technical logs are controlled by the relevant service provider and follow its retention practices.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for a copy of your personal information, request correction or deletion, ask us to restrict or object to certain uses, or withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. To make a request, email info@speaktome02.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Changes
We will update this notice when our website features or information practices change. The review date appears at the top of the page.
